James Webb Telescope’s Initial Images of Mars Give Useful Insights

The James Webb telescope is busy taking pictures of the planets in our solar system. Recently, it clicked some of Mars.

The images taken by the popular telescope could give useful information and insights into the red planet’s atmosphere.

Hellas basin appears to be darker than its surroundings when heat is at its peak during the day on Mars.

The reason could be high air pressure suppressing the heat being emitted at the basin which is located at a lower altitude.

With respect to Mars' near-infrared atmospheric composition, the images tell that Mars absorbs CO2 at various scattered wavelengths.
