Everyone of us have good intentions about our lives. We want to be in the moment, be happy and live a fulfilling life. We want all good things to happen to us. We also want others to be happy as we know deep within that our happiness is in-sync with peace & happiness of others. If they are not happy, we will also get troubled directly or indirectly. If it’s family or a relative, who is having issues with his life, we will have to take a break from our life and help him or her out. Even if the grieving person is a stranger, he needs to be helped as he/she might inflict damages to their surroundings including their human counterparts which would affect the society in a bad way of which we are an undeniable part. So, realising this nature of our lives, we have a natural bend towards having good intentions towards our own and others’ lives.
These good intentions of ours help us make the right choices in life. We develop good habits like eating healthy food, exercising regularly, meditating and doing Yoga. We try and do the things that would make us blissful at the best or peaceful at the worst. We don’t want to go the way that are full of thorns and which would give us unpleasant feelings, pain or sorrow. We also make the right choices when it comes to dealing with people in our lives. We decide to help people when they need us. We consciously don’t interfere in their private affairs, decisions & choices until they want us. And sometimes, we also go out of the way to prove our love & concern for them. We somehow try to make the right choices in life, at least to begin with.

But our good intentions and the will to make the right choices somehow starts to falter. Why? Whenever our right choices give the unintended or wrong results, we start doubting our choices and when the number of such instances go beyond our patience levels, we consciously or sub-consciously decide not to make these right choices at all. We may know that physical exercises are good for our body, mind and our well-being but if and when we pick-up an injury during exercises, we get fearful. We think that if we started exercising again, we might get hurt again. Of course, we need to rest after an injury to let the wound heal from the inside. But constantly being in fear even after the healing is not the way forward in life. Unintended results don’t come to stop us but to make us take a break, realise what we did wrong and to remove that mistake before we move forward. We cannot and should not stop riding the ‘swing’ just because we took a ‘fall’. We should get up every single time and try again because life is in progress which in turn is in enjoying life itself which again is in going for the ‘swing’.

Another reason why people stop making the right choices after some wrong results is because after the ‘fall’, they start believing that the right choice is not right at all. This means that when unintended results happen, people change directions immediately. They take-up the wrong choices and believe it to bring the right results which never ever happen and for which people have to pay huge prices & costs eventually. But even when they realise that a particular choice is wrong, they end-up confused in the end as every other option (which they rejected in the past) seems wrong too. Life goes nowhere from here as we begin to become totally confused & indecisive.
If we know the right choice but are fearful to make it, the problem is not relatively a big one. We just need to remove our fear and we are good to go once again. But when we start believing the right choice to be wrong and shut our doors on it, our pursuit of the right way becomes endless and our life never gets on-track. So, the first thing we need to do when wrong results get us in life is ‘stay open’. Doing this will keep our options open and we can come back to this right choice later when the wrong choice has failed enough number of times. But time is precious and mistakes should be avoided!

We can also choose to stay with the right choice all along without going the wrong way and save our precious time & energy. We all know what the right choices are in all the different situations we face in our lives. We just need to stick with them! We just need to stay calm to keep seeing the right choices clearly and be courageous enough to walk them easily. Who doesn’t want better things? Who doesn’t want to choose happiness when they already feel peaceful in this moment? But when we feel a little annoyed, we do foolish things and sacrifice our peace & happiness. So, the only thing we need to do when we feel annoyed is to realise that we want to be happy and stick with this choice at any cost. When bad, wrong & unintended things happen, we don’t need to start jeopardising our own happiness. We just need to wait for our mind and body to restore ‘normalcy’. Time heals every wound and when it does, we should once again start working towards our happiness & progress. Till then we should remain peaceful, patient, silent & meditative.
Only a consistent series of right choices can help us create a positive and bright life. And all it needs is a little wisdom, a little more courage and a sufficient amount of patience!
